SVSU employees receive credential


BENNINGTON >> Maureen O'Neil, SNS of Woodford and Stephanie Gates, SNS of Bennington have earned the credential, School Nutrition Specialist (SNS), the highest credential in the School Nutrition profession.

Maureen is the director of Food Service and Stephanie is the assistant director of Food Service at Southwest Vermont Supervisory Union, in Bennington.

Maureen and Stephanie have met the academic and experience requirements as well as demonstrated competency through successfully passing a national standardized exam for the school nutrition profession. They join over 1,300 professionals nationally, and 11 in Vermont who have earned this designation.

This Credential is offered through the School Nutrition Association (SNA), a non-profit organization of over 55,000 members that encourages the highest standards in school nutrition programs. The credential recognizes those who have obtained a high level of professional achievement.

The Abbey Group has successfully partnered with SVSU for their Food Service Program for ten years. The Abbey Group has been engaged in providing premium food service for over 25 years. We manage cafeteria operations in government and business settings, seasonal camps, elementary schools and high schools. Our team of 460 professionals prepares and serves over 20,000 meals a day in Vermont, New Hampshire and New York.
