SVC's Healis named AVCA All-American

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The accolades continue to mount for Southern Vermont College women's volleyball middle hitter Danielle Healis (Escondido, Calif.) who was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American Team this week, gaining an honorable mention after being selected to the New England All-Region First Team.

The senior captain and All-New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) First Team member helped lead the Mountaineers to their second-consecutive conference title this season. Healis recorded a .511 hitting percentage against NECC teams in the eight regular season matches, and she hit .605 in the two conference tournament matches, including a an eyebrow-raising .833 in the championship match. She was named the NECC Player of the Week twice during the 2012 campaign while easily leading the conference in hitting percentage and ranking fourth in kills and kills per set.

Overall, Healis competed in 30 of the Mountaineer's 31 matches, charting a .426 hitting percentage along the way. She totaled 259 kills (2.51 per set), giving her a 561 in her two-year career as a Mountaineer, putting her second on the SVC all-time kills list. Healis repeated her 2011 block total of 71, bringing her to first all-time for SVC with 142. Prior to the NCAA Tournament and the AVCA All-Region teams being announced, Healis was the leading Division III player with a .439 hitting percentage.
