Sunderland man dead following crash
DANBY — A Sunderland man is dead following a crash Thursday afternoon.
Vermont State Police said that shortly before 7 p.m., troopers from the Rutland barracks were dispatched to the intersection of Danby Mountain Road and Brook Road where a two-vehicle crash involving three people occurred.
Police said that Lucas A. Carnelli-Cadete, 19, of Manchester, Connecticut, was driving a 2004 Ford Taurus on Danby Mountain Road heading toward Brook Road. His passenger was Samuael E. Jenks, 20, of Sunderland. Meanwhile, William P. Secoy, 38, of Danby, was driving a 1995 Ford Ranger south on Brook Road towards Danby Mountain Road.
The vehicles crashed at the intersection, causing them both to go off the road and roll over.
Jenks was pronounced dead at the scene.
Carnelli-Cadete suffered internal injuries and a broken leg. He was taken via DHART helicopter to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, N.H. Secoy only suffered minor injuries and was released from Rutland Regional Medical Center.
The Vermont State Police Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.
Danby-Mt. Tabor Fire Department, East Dorset Fire Department, Manchester Rescue Squad, and Wallingford Rescue Squad responded to the scene.
