July Schedule

• July 4: Fourth of July Holiday. Library is closed.

• July 5-August 5: Summer of Numbers: If you love to solve math problems, sign-up for Bedtime Math. Complete a math problem each day and put a sticker on a special chart. Receive a prize when your chart is filled with stickers.

• July 5- July 30: STEM in a Bag: Each week, take home a paper bag full of materials to solve a different science, technology or math challenge. Bring back your results to show the librarian and receive a small prize.

• July 6, 13, 20, 27: Story Book Olympics: Join our story time team as we compete in events and challenges based on popular children's books. For 3-6 year-olds, parents & caregivers. 10:30 a.m. in the Rotary Room.

• July 7, 14, 28: Game-On Thursdays: Step up to the plate and get your creative juices flowing. Workshops in art, science, yoga, or cooking are held at 2 p.m. for 6-12 year-olds. Pre-registration required.

• July 11, 18, 25 Go for the Win Play Scrabble: 5th-8th graders can learn Scrabble or improve their game with instructor, Sandy Loiterstein. 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Rotary Room. Pre-registration required.

• July 15: Lunch Munchies & Movies. Children can enjoy a free lunch in the Rotary Room at 12 noon. The Movie Air Bud © Walt Disney Pictures will be shown at 12:30 p.m.

• July 19: Crazy Books. Write your stories in the twists and turns of tiny books made by you. Instructor - Emily Gold. 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Rotary Room. For 5th –8th graders. Pre-registration required.

• July 20: Build it Together The Family Game Challenge: Bring your family and work as a team to create an active outdoor/indoor game using everyday materials and recyclables. 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Rotary Room. Pre-registration required.

• July 21st: Animal Athletes: Michael Clough from the Southern Vermont Natural History Museum will bring live animals, touchable artifacts and interactive demonstrations to explore the athletic abilities of our animal friends. 2 p.m. in the Rotary Room.

• July 21st: Got Wheels? An expert bicycle mechanic from Bennington's Highlander Bicycle Shop will help you sharpen your tuning and tinkering skills. 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.in the Rotary Room. For 5th-8th graders. Pre-registration required.

• July 22: Lunch Munchies & Movies: Children can enjoy a free lunch in the Rotary Room at 12 noon. The movie Angels in the Outfield © Walt Disney Pictures will be shown at 12:30 p.m.

• July 26: The Great Tricycle Parade: Tricycle & wagon riders are invited to bring their vehicles and parade around the Library's Neighborhood. Meet at the Library's courtyard on Union St. at 10:30 a.m. to decorate your tricycle or wagon.

• July 22: Lunch Munchies & Movies: Children can enjoy a free lunch in the Rotary Room at 12 noon. The movie Inside Out© Disney Pixar will be shown at 12:30 p.m.

August Schedule

• Aug. 2: Summer Hip Hop: Be ready to show your moves! Allyson Hoffman will teach a hip hop dance to 5th – 8th graders. 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. in the Rotary Room.

• Aug. 3: Story Book Olympics: Join our story time team as we compete in events and challenges based on popular children's books. For 3-6 year-olds, parents & caregivers. 10:30 a.m. in the Rotary Room. . Pre-registration required.

• Aug. 10: Drum to the Beat at the Finish Line: Celebrate your reading efforts with musician, Otha Day & drum your heart out! Reading certificates will be awarded after the drum circle, followed by special snacks. 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. in the Rotary Room.
