Stuff the Bus a huge success

BENNINGTON >> The staff at Green Mountain RSVP gives a hearty thank you – on behalf of the Arlington Food Shelf, BROC Food Shelf, HIS Pantry, Kitchen Cupboard, Manchester Community, North Bennington Baptist Church Food Shelf, Pownal Food Pantry, and The Carpenter's Shop in Shaftsbury– to the many volunteers that collected, sorted and delivered food from Price Chopper customers on Jan. 16, during the Stuff the Bus Food Drive. This event was a collaboration of groups and included RSVP Volunteers, volunteers from Bennington Rotary, students from the Interact Club at Mt. Anthony and SVMC Americorps Vista, Rory Price.

The public response was phenomenal and volunteers heard so many stories how people have been helped by area food shelves. Over 1,800 pounds of food was donated in just six hours and loaded onto a bus provided by Green Mountain Community Network.

RSVP recruits and places volunteers with many area nonprofits and organizations that deliver hot meals, staff food pantries, mentor students, give rides to seniors and help keep our aging population more connected to the community. RSVP says this event exemplifies so much of what the group tries to do in the community. For more information contact 802-447-1546.
