Stratton Foundation donates to food cupboard

MANCHESTER >> The challenge grant that Community Food Cupboard has relied upon as the basis of their spring fundraising campaign is no longer available. Upon learning this news, the Stratton Foundation has donated one-third of our food budget for the year. The food cupboard is grateful for this gift and hope it will inspire others to make whatever contribution they can towards their goal of creating a hunger-free community.

The Community Food Cupboard has provided groceries to local families in need for more than 25 years. Last year, they served 381 households. That's over 1,000 of our neighbors who have turned to them for help. A gift at this time will ensure that they can continue to be a resource for those who are struggling through difficult times.

Those would like to join in the generosity shown by the Stratton Foundation can send their contribution to CFC, P.O. Box 864, Manchester Center, VT 05255. Donations of non-perishable food or personal care items may also be left in the collection box in the Manchester town office building, Manchester Community Library, or any of the religious congregations in Manchester.

For more information about CFC, call 362-0057, check out their website,, or visit them in the Manchester town office building on Wednesdays from 2-4 p.m. or Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon and 2-4 p.m.
