Fall is here but memories of summer and StoryWalk at the Rec linger. The Mark Skinner Library and the Manchester Parks & Recreation Department partnered to install the StoryWalk Project, and it was a great success. In the words of Liz Ambuhl, Director of Manchester Parks & Rec, "It was a wonderful idea." Thanks to rk Miles and Northshire Construction for their generous donations of lumber and equipment. Without their support and the efforts of the Rec staff and crew, this StoryWalk project could not have happened. It provided a great way for kids and their families to combine exercise with literacy.
Our appreciation goes out to everyone who participated in installing the project, walking the trail, reading the stories, and sharing their experiences with us. Here are just a few of the enthusiastic comments we received, "Loved it, loved it, loved it!" "It was great. My kids loved it." "Lovely story and a great way to involve the community. Looking forward to next year's story." We, too, look forward to installing new StoryWalk books next summer.
Meanwhile, we hope everyone will make the most of winter by curling up with a good book! Hope to see you at the library!
