Stannard seeks support

To the Editor:

I am fortunate to have been born and raised in Dorset, spending my entire life in our special small town. Over the years, I've given back to my community in many ways, including election and appointment to town-wide and state boards. I'm eager to give back again as a member of the Dorset Select Board, a position I held in the past (as member and then as chairman) for more than a decade.

First and foremost, I am a conservationist who has enjoyed and also worked hard to protect Dorset's natural resources both as a member of the community and as a past member of the Select Board. If elected, I will once again strive to protect our town's resources, natural and otherwise. Dorset's rural environment is not only prized by its citizens but is also the envy of those who visit us and oftentimes choose to settle here.

On the state level, I was appointed by Governor Dean to the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Board, representing Bennington and Windham counties; and I also served as the President of the Vermont Federation of Sports mens Clubs.

Another critical resource is our people, especially our youngsters. Having also served on the Dorset School Board for nearly a decade, I know that then — as now — we're giving our young people an excellent education for the 21 st century.

It would be my honor to be re-elected to the Dorset Select Board. I respectfully ask for your vote on Election Day (March 1) and, once elected, promise to work hard to preserve the quality of life we enjoy now and in the years to come.
