Standing Tall

To the Editor;

The boys of Manchester Cub Scout Pack 333 wish to express our utmost appreciation to the men and women of the Harned-Fowler VFW Post 6471. The members of the VFW Post - and their families - have stood tall, with incredible duty and courage in their military service and support to our great country.

But even beyond that, the VFW members have also stood tall for many, many years in service to their communities, and in particular to our Cub Scout Pack.

They have provided financial aid and volunteer time in support of many of our scouting activities.

The VFW families have bestowed many acts of kindness and generosity to help our Cub Scout Pack grow and flourish. Even though today we are somewhat small in stature as scouts, we want the VFW members and families to know that we intend to forever stand tall ourselves, in honor of all that our veterans have done - past, present, and future.

The wonderful role models provided by the VFW veterans and their families is of immense value to us and it will help us grow into outstanding young men in our own communities.

We look forward to the honor of being with our veterans, on Veteran's Day, at the VFW Hall, to salute them in person, in appreciation for everything they have done for our country and our communities.

Gary Saunders

Cubmaster, Pack 333

We have 35 cub scouts in the Manchester Pack - all 1st through 4th grade boys - from Manchester, Danby, Dorset, Arlington, Pawlet and Londonderry. The VFW Post has been our Cub Scout Pack 'Charter' organization for over 40 years - quietly looking after us from a senior governance perspective.
