Skatepark Fundraiser planned

MANCHESTER - A fund raiser will be held on Sunday, March 2, to benefit the Manchester Skatepark at the Other Woman Tavern at the Perfect Wife from 4-8 p.m.

There will be some bluegrass music at a Blueprint Party and silent auction. Live music will be provided by Gold Town and light fare will be provided. There will be a $20 donation at the door. All proceeds from the event will go to the event will go to the Manchester Parks and Recreation Skatepark Fund to develop a shovel-ready skatepark design.

Silent auction items include a one-of-a-kind Vermont license plate sculpture, crafted by Paul Kelly.

The Manchester Skatepark Committee was formed to raise awareness and funds to rebuild the Manchester Skateparklocated at the Dana L. Thomson Rec Park - a popular recreational outlet for Southern Vermont youth. After many years of hard use and weather, the skatepark's wooden ramps are showing wear and need to be replaced. Skaters, parents, citizens, together with the support of the Town and the Manchester Parks and Recreation Department, have formed a committee to help design a new longer-lasting concrete park and raise money to build it.
