This is an invitation to Danby and Mt. Tabor residents from the school board that runs the Currier Memorial School, serving these towns' children in grades kindergarten through six. We urge you to attend our next meeting, at 7 p.m. on January 10, and take part in putting our budget together. We plan to adopt a budget near the end of the meeting, so this is the last chance to add or subtract items. We do present the budget and answer questions at the Union District 23 Annual Meeting on February 25, but the budget has to be set long before then. Because the District voted long ago to use Town Meeting Day ballots to vote on the budget by paper ballot - rather than debate and possibly change the budget before a vote on the floor of the meeting - all the voters can do on Town Meeting Day is to vote the budget up or down. That is what makes our January board meeting so important.
It's the last chance to change the budget before it is voted on.
If you would like a copy of the proposed budget before the January 10 meeting, please contact Celeste Keel at 802-362-2452.
We meet on the second Thursday of every month except July at 7 p.m., at the school. In addition to the ten minutes near the beginning of each meeting that is set aside for public comment, we almost always have time for public comment on each agenda item. Please come and ask questions or let us know what you think, not just during budget season.
Herbert G. Ogden Chairman, Union District 23 School Board Mt. Tabor
