Seats open: Throw your hat in the ring

BENNINGTON -- It's that time of year again for those seeking office to get petitions signed and turned into their local town clerk. The deadline for petitions is 5 p.m. on Jan. 27.

The following is a list of open seats, according to each town's respective town clerk. Town Meeting Day is March 4. According to the Vermont Secretary of State, a petition for office must bear the signatures of 30 voters or 1 percent of the town's registered voters, whichever is less.

ARLINGTON -- Select Board: A three-year, and two-year seat.

School Board: A three-year, and two year position, plus an unexpired three-year seat with two remaining years.

Other positions: Lister, delinquent tax collector, auditor, trustee of public funds, and cemetery commissioner.

MANCHESTER -- Select Board: A three-year seat, and a two-year seat.

School Board: A three-year seat, and a two-year seat

Other positions: Trustee of public funds, lister.

SANDGATE -- No information available as of Thursday morning.

SUNDERLAND -- Select Board: A three-year seat, and two one-year seats.

School Board: A three-year seat, an unexpired three-year seat with one remaining year, and a two-year seat.

Other positions: Two auditor seats, first constable, second constable, delinquent tax collector, town agent, moderator, grand juror, lister, cemetery commissioner
