Scott for Lieutenant Governor

This one is a pretty easy call. The office of Lt. Governor basically involves being around to run the state when the governor is out of the state or otherwise indisposed, and to preside over the state senate. Phil Scott, a former state senator from Washington County, has not only handled those tasks with aplomb, but also brings a libertarian, pragmatic perspective that has amply earned him the credentials for re-election.

We did not get the chance to meet his Progressive/Democratic opponent, Cassandra Gekas, although from what we've seen of her through other media outlets, she is clearly an intelligent candidate who may well have a bright future in Vermont politics. Here, we simply feel the Phil Scott has demonstrated the leadership and has the right kind of background we're looking for from candidates for high state office. We're enthusiastically backing his re-election for Lt. Governor, and fully expect that he too has a bright future ahead of him here in Vermont.
