Sabol named to Berkshire All-Regional team
For the first time in her career, Sabol was chosen to the IWCLA Berkshire All-Region squad with a second team selection. The IWLCA honored 256 NCAA Division III student-athletes across eight different regions.
Sabol turned in 52 goals, 25 assists, 77 points, 48 ground balls, 40 draw controls and 23 caused turnovers in her sophomore campaign to aid the Lyons' run to the NCAA Tournament. Sabol, who claimed NEWMAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors in leading Wheaton to its third conference title in program history last month, finished third in the league in points and assists, fourth in ground balls and caused turnovers, seventh in goals and 12th in draw controls. Sabol's 25 assists in 2014 ranks sixth all-time in program history in a single season, while her 38 career assists ranks 11th all-time.
Wheaton enjoyed a banner year in 2014 capturing its fifth NEWMAC regular season title and third conference championship en route to an appearance in the NCAA Tournament, its fifth in program history. The Lyons, who tied the second highest single season wins total in 2014 with a 14-7 record, defeated Emmanuel College, 14-3, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to Williams College, 9-6, last Saturday in the second round.
