Running for office
I am running for the one year position on the Danby Select Board. I was appointed to the Danby Select Board last June to fill a seat until this upcoming election on March 4th. Serving on the five member board these past nine months has shown me that there is much that can be done to preserve Danby's small town atmosphere while at the same time implementing new procedures to keep track of town revenue and expenditures and to generate more community involvement.
Some of the issues that I am anxious to continue working on are developing a budget process that is transparent and that provides essential services without making it unaffordable to live in Danby, developing written policies for running the town rather than a "it's just the way we've always done it" policy, developing ways to increase community activities, and finding another site for the town garage so the present town office site can be made safer, more attractive and brought up to code.
I have lived in Danby since 1972. I bring to the Board my experience as a former Danby select board member (2003-2006), school board member and planning commission member, as well as my experience as an attorney with my own business. I have recently retired and have the time to be an active, productive member of the Board.
For these reasons I ask for your vote on March 4th.
