Running for CDC Board

To the Editor:

At the present time I am a member of the Regional Governing Board of the Career Development Center and I am running for another 3-year term because I believe in the Center's mission. The Career Development Center is committed to preparing secondary and post secondary students for career and lifelong learning in a rapidly changing world.

I would like to continue my work on the Strategic Planning Committee on which I am chair. In the past, I started a Gender Equity Program at the CDC on a grant to interest more girls in technical skill training and careers. I believe that it is important to increase the number of girls as well as boys throughout Bennington County in technical skill training that they can apply in their future careers.

I have experience as a teacher at Southern Vermont College, the Community College of Vermont and Graduate Schools of Social Work. I am a social worker and served as a Director of Social Services, Peer Counseling and Mentoring.

From these experiences and a strong interest in the Career Development Center, I believe that I would make a valuable contribution to the Regional Governing Board.
