Roundup: Bulldogs top Red Raiders

RUTLAND - The Burr and Burton Academy boys basketball team proved they can win the tight games as much as the routs, topping Rutland on the road, 45-42, on Thursday night.

Joey Shehadi once again led the Bulldogs, scoring 19 points while hauling in 8 rebounds. Conor Harrington also stuffed the stat sheet, scoring nine points while pulling down eight rebounds and adding five blocks in the win.

"[The win] feels great because we are coming into the toughest part of our schedule," said BBA coach Dave Shehadi. "I think our kids answered the challenge to a man. We competed hard and are very pleased."

BBA girls fall

MANCHESTER - The Burr and Burton Academy girls basketball team fell to Fair Haven 44-29 on Thursday night.

Fair Haven's Bethany Lanfear led the way for the Slaters, scoring 15 points, all threes, to pace the team in scoring. Kylie Eagan added 10 points in the win. Burr and Burton as led by Deidre Walsh, who scored 14 points for the Bulldogs. Hannah Nicholson added seven and Brianna Brockett had five.

Burr and Burton falls to 3-6, while Fair Haven improves to 7-1.
