Roundup: Bulldogs net two in win

SPRINGFIELD - Ending the regular season on the road, the Burr and Burton Academy girls soccer team travelled to Springfield on Thursday, and came home 2-0 winners.

Jordan Harmon and Daisy Sullivan netted the two goals for the Bulldogs in the win, with both strikes coming in the first half. Sullivan set up Harmon for her goal, while Sullivan's was unassisted.

Coach Dan DeForest said that it was a good win heading into the playoffs.

"They are a good team. We had to play well to beat them," DeForest said.

"They were playing inspired on Senior Night, and we had to match that, and we did a good job of that.

"Our last two games, against MAU (win) and Springifled, that puts us in good standing for a playoff run." The Bulldogs finish the year with a 10-4-0 record.

Bulldogs draw

MANCHESTER - The Burr and Burton Academy field hockey team drew with Fair Haven 2-2 on Thursday.

Fair Haven would take a 2-0 lead going into halftime, with two goals from Elly Maynard.

Morgan Bazyk would net both for the Bulldogs, with Amelia Cummings setting up the first goal by charging down the wing before centering to Mary Leech, who layed a pass off to Bazyk for the goal.

The second would be assisted from Leech again.

"In the second half, the girls really came out and put the pressure on," coach Julie Fifield said. "It was huge for us to come back like that."

The Bulldogs move to 2-2-9 on the year with the draw, and end the season on Friday with another match against Fair Haven, this time in Fair Haven.
