Roundup: Bulldogs drop Rutland
Hayley Sabol, Lauren Miskovsky and Cara Corvino had two goals apiece for BBA (4-1). Mary Leech also scored and Jessica Dorr added an assist. Jamie Wilson and Mirnat Cetin scored twice for Rutland, which forced two saves from Lauren MacKenzie and four from Casey Apps.
BBA tops Mount Anthony
MANCHESTER - The Burr and Burton Academy girls tennis bested Mount Anthony, 5-2, on Friday, the second time this season the teams played to the same score.
Maddy Pagnucco (6-1, 6-2), Gabi Hasaj (6-4, 6-4), Gabby Vella (6-3, 7-5) and Stella Oh (6-4, 6-1) each picked up singles victories for the Bulldogs, who improve to 7-0 with the win. Monica Mas Mir and Kitt Sikes picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win in the No. 1 doubles match.
Erin Winseman (3-6, 7-6, 11-9) forced and won a tiebreaker at the No. 2 singles spot for MAU (4-3), while Giza Toshkjudjaeva and Margaret Curtin also won in doubles.
Greylock blasts Bulldogs
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Mount Greylock pumped in 11 first-quarter goals on Friday to cruise to a 20-5 win against Burr and Burton Academy in boys lacrosse.
Sean Paradis (two goals), Wil Helmetag, Ben Alexopoulos and Sam Anglum scored for BBA (1-4), which got 17 saves from sophomore goalkeeper Michael Sztorc.
BENNINGTON - The third annual 'Shires of Vermont Marathon,' a classic point-to-point 26.2 mile road race connecting the southern Vermont towns of Bennington and Manchester, is accepting registrations for the race on May 19. Race applications and online registration are available at www.shiresofvermontmarathon.com. The race is organized by the Batten Kill Valley Runners to benefit community mental health and developmental services.
Runners from about 30 different states and foreign countries love the course, which will be the same this year as before. It starts at The Bennington Center for the Arts and finishes at Hildene Meadows in Manchester.
Anyone interested in helping to put on a very popular, large event is welcome to join the organizing committee, which meets monthly.
