Roundup: BBA girls unbeaten
BBA won all the contested matches, with Maddy Pagnucco, Jordan Harmon, Gabi Hasaj and Gabby Vella each winning in straight sets. Each doubles team -- No. 1 Monica Mas Mir and Stella Oh and No. 2 Eliza Breed and Haley McGrath -- also won in straight sets.
Rutland beats BBA
MANCHESTER -- Undefeated Rutland won all of their matches in straight sets as the Raiders topped the Burr and Burton Academy tennis team, 6-1, on Wednesday.
The only Bulldogs player to score a victory was No. 5 Noah Wetherald, who beat Peter Gibb 6-1 and 6-2.
Burr and Burton drops to 2-2, while Rutland is 6-0. BBA faces Brattleboro on Monday.
BENNINGTON -- The third annual 'Shires of Vermont Marathon,' a classic point-to-point 26.2 mile road race connecting the southern Vermont towns of Bennington and Manchester, is accepting registrations for the race on May 19. Race applications and online registration are available at www.shiresofvermontmarathon.com. The race is organized by the Batten Kill Valley Runners to benefit community mental health and developmental services.
Runners from about 30 different states and foreign countries love the course, which will be the same this year as before. It starts at The Bennington Center for the Arts and finishes at Hildene Meadows in Manchester.
Anyone interested in helping to put on a very popular, large event is welcome to join the organizing committee, which meets monthly.
