Roundup: BBA downs Bellows Falls

BELLOWS FALLS - The Burr and Burton Academy girls tennis team defeated Bellows Falls 6-0 on the road on Tuesday. Singles players Maddy Pagnucco, Jordan Harmon, Gabi Hasaj and Gabby Vella all won in straight sets. Neither team had a fifth singles player available.

In Doubles, the team of Stella Oh and Monica Mas Mir defeated Quinn Lawrence and Antonia Dufort in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-2. BBA's second doubles team of Julia Campanella and Eliza Breed also won in straight sets, defeating Kayla Gilchrist and Sophia Cardini 6-0, 6-0.

BBA routs Minutemen

MILL RIVER - The Burr and Burton Academy baseball team took advantage of Mill River's wildness in a mercy-rule shortened 17-3 win.

The Minuteman allowed 13 walks as BBA scored eight runs in the third inning to break the game open.

For 4-0 BBA, Jake Stalcup had a two-run RBI single, and also earned the win. Robert England went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, while. Weston Muench added a 2-RBI single.

They face Brattleboro on Thursday.

Fair Haven tops BBA

MILL RIVER - In the Burr and Burton Academy softball team's opener, Fair Haven won 17-2 in five innings.

Freshman Rachel Senecal scored the game's first run after blasting a double for the Bulldogs. Senior Carolyn Bruno drove in Senecal for her first RBI of the season.

Eagles fall to Twin Valley

ARLINGTON - Twin Valley topped the Arlington Memorial High School softball team 21-5 in six innings on Tuesday.

Celia Smith went 3-for-3 with a triple and 4 RBI to lead the Eagles at the plate.

Allison Katrick took the loss for Arlington, who drops to 0-2. They face Black River at home today.

BBA drops heartbreaker

The Burr and Burton Acadamy boys lacrosse team lost 11-10 in overtime to Woodstock on Monday.

Three BBA players scored during the game with Henry Buckley and Sean Paradis being responsible for most of the offense. Buckley scored five goals in Monday's contest and Paradis scored four and had two assists. Andrew Sherras also scored for BBA. BBA goalie Michael Sztorc had 23 saves.

Storm football seeking players for season

BENNINGTON - The Southern Vermont Storm football team is seeking players and volunteers for coaching. They are also looking for people who may be interested in helping out at home games at Applejack Field in Manchester. For more information, call 802-681-9058.

Shires marathon

BENNINGTON - The third annual 'Shires of Vermont Marathon,' a classic point-to-point 26.2 mile road race connecting the southern Vermont towns of Bennington and Manchester, is accepting registrations for the race on May 19. Race applications and online registration are available at The race is organized by the Batten Kill Valley Runners to benefit community mental health and developmental services.

Runners from about 30 different states and foreign countries love the course, which will be the same this year as before. It starts at The Bennington Center for the Arts and finishes at Hildene Meadows in Manchester.
