Public Invited to Educational Forum

MANCHESTER - Citizens Interested in Vermont Education (CIVE), a nonpartisan group of local community members, is sponsoring an educational forum to discuss "Issues Facing Vermont Education," Wednesday, Oct. 23rd at 6:30 p.m. in the Mark Skinner Library. State representative Cynthia Browning will join a panel of local leaders including Stephen Dear, Head of Long Trail School; Weiland Ross, former honors teacher, teacher union representative, and former Sunderland school board member; Allan Tschorn, Sandgate school board member; and Brian Vogel, Manchester Elementary Middle School board member. Rob Roper, president of the Ethan Allen Institute will moderate.

Citing increasing education costs, changing educational standards, changes in technology that affect education, and the shifting skills required of a 21st century workforce, CIVE is seeking to explore the major challenges facing educating Vermont's youth and how the panelists would address those challenges. A question and answer session with the public will be part of the forum. For more information, call 802-362-3675.
