'Oscar Night' returns
Eons Creative and all participants will be partnering with Village Picture Shows' "Keep Movies in Manchester" community benefit project that has been launched because an industry-wide shift to all digital distribution threatens to close Manchester's only cinema. VPS must raise $175,000 by March 15 to keep its doors open.
The Oscar party begins at 5:30 p.m. with a pre-show reception featuring Vermont artisan breads and cheeses and includes the broadcast of the 85th Academy Awards on multiple screens, one complimentarychampagne cocktail for those over 21, dinner and dessert, photography by Christy Nevius, a free print from The Image Loft, and participation in the optional fashion competition and Oscar pool with chances to win prizes. Oscar Party tickets are $55 in advance and $65 day of event.
Earlier in the day, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., chocolate lovers can attend a chocolate tasting event with Clay Gordon, author of Discover Chocolate (Gotham Books, 2007), and creator of TheChocolateLife.com, an on-line community for aspiring chocophiles. For those who love chocolate, but the Oscars aren't their thing, $45 will get you a ticket to this tasting event. A combination ticket that includes both the chocolate tasting and the Oscar party will cost $95 and is only available in advance.
The HotChocolate Society's Culinary Awards challenge chefs to explore the art of cooking with chocolate as an ingredient to create savory or sweet bites. Judging of the "bites" will be done by a jury of food & media professionals and also by guests resulting in jury and audience awards for Best Savory Bite and Best Sweet Bite.
All tickets may be purchased online at www.thehotchocolatesociety.com. Contact Michael Ellenbogen at (802) 768-8498 for more information.
