Opportunites to share
MANCHESTER >> The Community Sharing Project (CSP) got in full swing Thanksgiving weekend with the appearance of "Angel Trees" in a variety of area locations.
The Angel Trees are just one of the ways CSP encourages area citizens to donate new clothing items to families and children in need.
Starting Nov. 27, the angel ornaments will be displayed in Rupert, Pawlet, Wells and Dorset Churches; the Berkshire Bank locations; and shops such as JK Adams, Gap, Carters; General Stores such as Dorset Union Store, HN Williams, Wells Country Store, Nichols Store in Danby; The Dorset and Pawlet Libraries, the Equinox Village and American Hairlines.
Each ornament lists a clothing item for an area child or adult. Individuals simply take one or more ornaments, purchase that item and return the unwrapped, to any ornament location for collection by Friday, Dec. 11.
Area Schools are also getting in the spirit. The Dorset School, Mettawee Community School, The Long Trail School and Burr and Burton Academy students are collecting food basket for CSP families.
The overall mission of Community Sharing Project is to provide a more bountiful holiday for our neighbors in need. Approximately 150 families will receive new toys, clothes, boots and a holiday good basket complete with a turkey all thanks to the remarkable generosity of the community.
CSP will distribute these gifts on Friday Dec. 18.
Since 1991, the non-profit Community Sharing Project has brought holiday joy each year to families in Danby, Dorset, Pawlet, Rupert, and Wells. For any questions about Community Sharing Project contact Beth Eyre at 867-2260.
