New York man dies in Route 9 crash


MARLBORO >> A man driving a car bearing New Hampshire registration was killed after he lost control of a vehicle, striking a tree, while traveling east on Route 9.

The man was identified on Tuesday afternoon as James P. P. Teta, 26, of Troy, N.Y.

According to a press release from the Vermont State Police, the crash occurred just after 10 p.m. on Monday night, while a light drizzle was falling and the road was wet.

The Teta was driving a silver 2002 Audi A4, four-door; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Seat belts were being worn and multiple air bags were activated. The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. This crash is still under investigation. Any witnesses are urged to call VT State Police at 802-722-4600 , ext. 522.
