New Play Reading set at Dorset

DORSET -- Dorset Theatre Festival will present the song cycle from Dillingham City by the writing team of Lucy Thurber and Matt Gould, as part of their New Play Reading Series on Aug. 9 at 3 p.m.

The presentation, which will include songs from the show in development as well as a talk with the writers about their process, will be directed by Kent Nicolson, the Director of Musical Theater and Literary Associate for Playwrights Horizons in New York City. A talk-back with the writers, cast and director will occur directly after the presentation. Dillingham City is a hip and poignant new musical that marks the exciting collaboration of one of New York's top playwrights, Lucy Thurber, with the 2014 Richard Rodgers Award recipient, Matt Gould. In a land of independent city states, Dillingham City is a place of heat and spice with the richest of the rich and the poorest of the poor. It is a place rich with resources and ripe for revolution.

Dillingham City is a story about love, revolution and corporate greed. The workshop and presentation has been underwritten with support from the Richard Rodgers Foundation and Craig Roberts. Tickets and info are available at, or by calling the Box Office at 802-867-2223.
