New cooking show hosted by local Innkeeper, Chris Sprague

MANCHESTER — Chris Sprague, who with her husband Ted, owns The Inn at Ormsby Hill in Manchester, has built her reputation for culinary skills during her 21 years of innkeeping. She grew up with a dad who owned a gourmet food store, has always been around good food, and now cooking is her passion and hobby.

Sprague published her first cookbook in 1992, and it continues to be well received. In addition, she has been featured in national publications such as: Food & Wine, Colonial Homes, Yankee Magazine, Yankee Magazine's Travel Guide, Living Without, New York Times, Boston Globe, etc. She was honored as a Yankee Magazine "Great New England Cook," and chosen to be a DuPont test chef. Her granola recipe was the inspiration for a cereal made by the Kellogg Company called "Inn at Ormsby Hill Blend" for County Inn Specialties.

The show, "Inndulgence with Chris Sprague," will be taped at The Inn at Ormsby Hill in Manchester. The program will be 30 minutes and will feature a guest in the kitchen with Chris. The show's theme: Indulge yourself, will include an intimate look at the food and magic behind one of New England's finest inns.

Shows already scheduled are:

CAT-TV — Mondays at 8 p.m; Tuesdays at 2 p.m.; Wednesdays at 8 a.m.; Thursdays at 2 a.m.; Fridays at 8 p.m.; and Sundays at 2 a.m.

GNAT-TV — Thursdays at 5 a.m. and 5 p.m.; Fridays at 5 a.m. and 5 p.m.; and Saturdays at 5 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The first show was taped on Wednesday, Sept. 16, and featured, as Sprague's first guest George Blatsos, her 91-year old dad, who owned a neighborhood grocery/Greek store turned gourmet food store for 37 years in Lynn, Mass. Sprague started working at her dad's store after school and Saturdays when she was in the third grade and continued through high school. She attributes that experience for her love and appreciation of good food. At 91, Blatso still does his own food shopping and cooking in his home. In her kitchen, Sprague and her dad will cook Blatso's Greek Lamb and Roasted Vegetable Ratatouille.
