New application period for marijuana dispensary registration
The statute authorizing the dispensaries allows up to four to operate concurrently throughout the state. Currently Dispensary Registration Certificates have been issued to businesses in Burlington, Montpelier and Brandon; therefore leaving one remaining registration certificate available.
The rules for Vermont's therapeutic use of cannabis, known as the Vermont Marijuana Program (VMP), govern the procedures for issuing a certificate of registration to a dispensary; registry identification cards to qualified patients, caregivers; and qualified principal officers, board members, and employees of dispensaries. The VMP rules also govern confidentiality, payments of fees, and enforcement of these rules. To obtain rules and an application, visit http://vcic.vermont.gov/marijuana_registry/marijuana_dispensaries.
The closing date for applications is Sept. 3, 2013 at 4:30p.m., and must be accompanied by the $2,500 non-refundable application fee. Mark submission envelopes with 'Marijuana Dispensary Application'.
For questions regarding the application process or the VMP, contact the Marijuana Registry at 802-241-5115.
