Motorcycle crash leaves man injured

WEST PAWLET - On July 20 at 3:33 p.m., State Police responded to a motorcycle crash near a residence at 2299 VT Route 30 in West Pawlet.

Investigation revealed that the operator, Ricky Sprague, was riding a 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle northbound on Route 30 in West Pawlet when he lost control of the vehicle just north of the North Pawlet Road intersection. Sprague's motorcycle slid on its side as it continued northward before crashing into a wood fence posted on the front lawn of residence 2299 VT Route 30, which brought the vehicle to its final position of uncontrolled rest.

Ricky Sprague, age 56 of Hinsdale N.H., and his passenger, Joanne Sprague, were both transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center for injuries. Ricky Sprague reported that he sustained two broken legs. Joanne Sprague was not readily available; the extent of her injuries have not been confirmed.

Drugs and alcohol were not factors in this crash.

The West Pawlet Fire Department and Granville Rescue Squad assisted at the crash scene. The vehicle was towed away by a local tow service.
