Moonlight in Vermont road race set

POWNAL - The annual Moonlight in Vermont Midnight Road Race and Community Ramble returns this Saturday, July 12.

Starting at the Pownal Valley Fire Department, runners will follow a course along paved and dirt roads through the hills of Pownal.

The event will also include a non-competitive two mile race.

The road race will begin at the stroke of midnight, while the ramble will start at 12:03 a.m.

Awards will be handed out to the top overall male and female winners, along with the top three finishers in seven age categories. For the non-competitive race, a prize will be awarded to the first Pownal resident and to the individual judged to be most visible in the moonlight.

The events are being organized by the Batten Kill Valley Runners and Pownal community members. Proceeds will go to the Pownal Valley Fire Department.

The entry fee is $15 for pre-registration and $18 on race night. BKVR members, students, and Pownal residents receive a $3 discount.

To register online, visit, or pick up an application at the Solomon Wright Public Library.
