Missing 17 year-old girl found in local motel

MANCHESTER - According to the Manchester Police Department, on Tuesday, Nov. 12, shortly after 11 a.m., both the Manchester Police and the Winhall Police departments received information that a missing 17 year-old female may be located in a guest room at the Econo Lodge Motel in Manchester. The Manchester and Winhall Police responded and found the missing girl who was later returned home to her family.

The female was found in the company of 23 year-old Lamar James of Newark, N.J. Further investigation led police to search the motel room. The search uncovered a felony amount of heroin and a small amount of marijuana. James was subsequently arrested and charged with felony Possession of heroin and issued a civil ticket for possession of marijuana.

James was transported to Marble Valley Correctional Facility for lack of $20,000 bail and ordered to appear in Bennington Superior Court Criminal Division on Wednesday, Nov. 13. Troopers from the Vermont State Police later responded and assisted with the investigation.
