Mettawee sixth graders graduate
The annual graduation ceremony was the first to be presided over by Principal Brooke DeBonis, who was completing her inaugural year at the helm of the K-6 elementary school serving the students of the towns of Pawlet and Rupert.
In addition to DeBonis' remarks, UD #47 school board member Susan Ceglowski, John Malcom (VT-D), and Mettawee Community PTO President Brooke Burnham spoke to the Class of 2013. The following awards were presented during the graduation ceremonies: Presidential Academic Fitness Awards: For Academic Achievement - Nicholas Andrus, Lexa Blomberg, Adam Browe, Paula Perkins and Guillermo Yescas.
Presidential Academic Fitness Awards: For Academic Excellence - Henry Ahlfeld, Sydney Badger, Emma Bryant, Hanna Bryant, Stella Farrell and Sam Freeman.
Ellen Frances Luke Award: Henry Ahlfeld.
Annie McGuire Award: Stella Farrell.
Mark of Excellence Award: Emma Bryant and Hanna Bryant.
Ruth Lewis Kirchner Award: Adam Browe.
Irene Hanfield Award: Nicholas Andrus.
Pawlet and Rupert Historical Society Essay Awards: 1st prize - Henry Ahlfeld 2nd prize - Sydney Badger 3rd prize - Faith Winchell Certificates of Participation - Torrey Amaral, Nicholas Andrus, Issac Baker, Lexa Blomberg, Adam Browe, Emma Bryant, Hanna Bryant, Jennifer Burnor, Stella Farrell, Sam Freeman, Ethan Moore, Connor Mullen, Paula Perkins, Carson Smith and Guillermo Yescas.

The evening's proceedings also included a sixth grade memories slide show, presented by sixth grade teachers Patty Lea and Diane Mach, and the singing of the "Star Spangled Banner" and "Hall of Fame" by the graduating class.
The evening concluded with the awarding of school's certificates of completion and a reception.
