Merck Forest to hold classes
Class lengths range from 1.5 to 3 hours depending on the grade level, and they are offered Monday to Friday through November. All of these seasonal outdoor education programs immerse students and teachers in Merck Forest and Farmland Center's dynamic working landscape, and engage them in place-based learning.
The three courses: "Ecosystem Investigations in the Changing Forest;" "Ins and Outs of Eating: The Cycle of Nutrients on the Farm;" and the "Educational Farm Tour" can be adapted for elementary and middle school classes.
Service Opportunities are appropriate for grades five to the college level, and provide students with a more practical, hands-on experience in the farm or forest. Educators can also contact the Director of Education, Sarah Ullman, to create a custom-made learning experience that ties in with the current studies of the class.
