Memo from Londonderry
The result is her memoir, "Down to Derry: Coming of Age in Vermont."
With candor, humor, and poignancy, Heffron tells of the joys and realities of farm life; adventure and peril on horseback; shocking events at school; an uncertain parental relationship; brotherly love and rivalry; even her introduction to tragedy while still remembering sweet days and memorable citizens in South Derry.
Jeanne Heffron Slawson now lives in Maryland. She is a former art consultant; returned to school, changed careers, becoming area Director of Career Services for the YWCA. She then maintained a private practice, "Career Perspectives," until her retirement. During her career, she was a consultant and trainer in career choice and transition, and a member of many professional organizations; more recently, she has been active in local arts and community service groups.
Down to Derry: Coming of Age in Vermont is available in paperback (list price, $12. 95) and ebook (list, $4. 99) on Kindle, Nook, and Apple iBook; both versions have numerous black-and-white photos. To learn more, go to Books on www.amazon.com, www.barnesandnoble.com.
