Meals on wheels names new board members


BENNINGTON >> -Meals on Wheels of Bennington County has announced the appointment of two new board members. Joining the board are Dr. John Orzehowski and Kathleen McBrien.

"John and Kathleen embody the spirit of community. Their experience and energy will be an asset as we further our mission of providing fresh, homemade meals to the residents of Bennington County," said Susan Fox, Meals on wheels' executive director.

Dr. John Orzehowski is a chiropractor with offices in both Bennington and Cambridge, N.Y. He earned his Bachelors degree in Creative Writing from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Penn. and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic West in San Jose Calif. Prior to moving to the northeast in 2006, he worked for several years in the physical medicine and radiology departments of a private medical office in the San Francisco Bay area.

Kathleen McBrien has lived in Bennington since 2003. She dances with Sahidi Sisters the professional troupe of Bennington Beledi Tribal Bellydance (BBTB). She teaches bellydance and is their treasurer. A lifelong devotee of both reading and eating, she also maintains the guest database for the Greater Bennington Interfaith Council's Kitchen Cupboard food pantry. She has recently become certified by the Tai Chi for Health Institute as an instructor of their Tai Chi for Fall Prevention program and is a teacher at Arlington High School.

Meals on Wheels of Bennington County is a non-profit organization serving fresh meals to seniors 60 and older and the disabled.
