Maple Street student selected for composition

MANCHESTER >> Maple Street School seventh-grader Miranda Eisenman, of Winhall, was one of 26 student composers selected from the state of Vermont to participate in the Vermont Opus Concert on Wednesday, April 27.

Eisenman's selection, titled "Hockey Game" was selected in the grades 6-8 level. The 26 total selections encompass grades K-12 and were chosen from more than 100 submissions to the Vermont Opus Competition (formerly VT Midi Project) from throughout the state. The 26 selections were presented at the Elley-Long Music Center at St. Michael's College in Colchester at 6:30 p.m. on April 27.

"We're so proud of Miranda's accomplishment," said Maple Street School Instrumental Music Teacher Zak Hampton. "She is a talented musician, and composing is a natural extension of that talent."
