Maple Leaf Half Marathon set

MANCHESTER - The 35th anniversary of the Maple Leaf Half Marathon and the (more recent) Kotler 5K Run/Walk will be Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Dana Thompson Recreation Center.

Race participants will be coming from over 30 states and foreign countries, but there is still space for local Vermont runners and walkers in both events.

Registration for both races will be capped at 1,000 participants and there will not be any race day registration.

All runners and walkers need to register beforehand online by visiting the web site (search: Maple Leaf Half Marathon) or by paper forms available at the Chamber of Commerce located at 39 Bonnet Street in Manchester Center.

The Maple Leaf races are produced by the Manchester Lions Club, the Manchester and the Mountains Chamber of Commerce, the Battenkill Valley Runners and by numerous other area nonprofit groups.

They are being presented this year by the generous partnership of the Perfect Wife Restaurant, the Spiral Press Café, MVP Health Care, Orvis, and over 40 other area businesses.

All proceeds from the Maple Leaf are directed back to the community nonprofit organizations which participate. Entertainment will also be provided for visitors at various spots around both courses.

Those who have a musical or other variety act and would like to participate and to earn a donation for their favorite local nonprofit should call 297-2216.
