Maple Leaf a success
The 2013 Maple Leaf Half Marathon and the Kotler 5K, held on Saturday Sept. 7, was a huge success. Revived seven years ago by the Manchester Lions Club and the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, it has become more than we could have hoped: It binds together the business community and area nonprofit organizations in producing a major event for the community.
It also brings hundreds of visitors to the area from over 35 states and foreign countries. The economic benefit to area businesses is unmistakable. Furthermore, all net proceeds from the event benefit local nonprofit groups in their community mission. The Maple Leaf Committee is made up of various hardworking people who take great pride in their accomplishment. We have posted a notice of our sponsors and our nonprofit partners elsewhere in this issue.
Please take a moment to scan all the groups involved. They have deserved our thanks for making this great event a huge success. We welcome others who would like to see the race grow even further to join with us in 2014.
