Manchester man arrested on sexual assault charge

MANCHESTER -- Vermont State Police have arrested a 19 year-old resident of Manchester on a charge of sexual assault. According to the state police, on July 31 the Bennington County Special Investigations Unit received information from the Department for Children and Families of an 19 year old male who had sexual relations with a 15 year old female. According to the information the offenses occurred in the Town of Manchester Vermont. After a thorough investigation by Detective Trooper Scott Dunlap, Cody Shores,19, of Manchester was arrested on Sept.11, 2013 for sexual assault.

Shores was currently incarcerated for a violation of his probation, which stemmed from a previous conviction for lewd and Lascivious conduct with a child.

This investigation was through the Bennington County Special Investigations Unit, which is a multidisciplinary team that investigates, prosecutes and serves the needs of victims of crimes involving sexual exploitation of children and/or adults. The unit also monitors compliance with Vermont's sex offender registry.
