Maginniss named to Chamber post

MONTPELIER -The Vermont Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (VACCE) has announced that Berta Maginniss, Executive Director, of the Manchester and the Mountains Regional Chamber of Commerce, will serve as President for 2014.

Maginniss will lead a Board of Directors that includes Cindy Locke, Lamoille Region, Chamber of Commerce; Andrew Mayer, Addison Country Chamber of Commerce; Tom Torti, Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce; Marji Graf, Okemo Valley Chamber of Commerce and Karen O'Connell, Jay Peak Area Chamber of Commerce.

VACCE's is comprised of 35 member Chambers statewide representing a total Chamber membership of 13,000 plus companies/businesses across Vermont. VACCE is devoted to the prosperity of business and encourages an economic environment that will grow our towns, communities responsibly for today's Vermonters and future generations.

Prior to joining the Manchester Chamber in 2009, Maginniss was COO of The Greater Washington Board of Trade one of the 14th largest Chambers in the U.S. and also spent 20 years with The Walt Disney Company.

"2014 is a transitional year for VACCE as VACCE is no longer the provider of insurance benefits for our Chambers," Maginniss said. "We plan to be active in engaging our legislators on business issues of concern to our members and providing professional development for our members."
