LTS student wins Congressional Award

DORSET - Bethany Marsfelder of Londonderry was recently awarded the Congressman's Choice Award for excellence on her painting titled "Freedom's Horizon."

Marsfelder, a ninth grader at Long Trail School, combined watercolor and collage on canvas to portray a scene of the Jefferson Memorial from across the Potomac River during the height of cherry blossom season. Marsfelder and other Vermont student artists were honored on Monday, May 13 in Montpelier, at a reception hosted by Congressman Peter Welch. Three other Long Trail students were also represented art in the state competition: Jill Brooks, Grade 11, with her watercolor painting "Back to the Barn;" Parker Lyman, Grade 12, with his photograph "Shadows;" and Erika Davis, Grade 12, with her painting "Stony Beach."
