Local artist Connor to lead Equinox art classes
"I'm really excited about this series of classes," said Conner, the instructor for the classes. "It will give anyone with an interest in art a great introduction to fundamental drawing and painting skills and techniques."
The series includes Learn to Draw I, Learn to Draw II, The Easy Way to Watercolor, and Creating Your Own Original Watercolor Greeting Cards. A class list with dates, times, and details regarding what will be covered is below.
Each class includes four sessions. Learn to Draw I begins on Jan. 10 and will continue one-class-per-week through the end of the month. Classes covering other topics will run through the end of May.
Students may register for four sessions at a time for $50 or drop in (as space allows) for individual classes for $15. All of the proceeds from the classes go directly to the instructor.
Those interested in attending can contact Connor at 375-5548 or visit http://tonyconner.com/classes-workshops/ for more information about classes and materials.
Learn to Draw I 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursdays Jan. 10, 17, 24 and 31. This class will teach the all-important skill of observation - really seeing the objects being drawn - along with developing the ability to transfer them to paper. Conner will begin by teaching participants to see and draw basic shapes (circles, squares, rectangles and triangles) and to turn these into more complex shapes and objects. Included in the class will also be the basics of size, proportion and perspective.
Learn to Draw II 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursdays Feb. 14, 21, 28 and March 7. In the second class in this drawing series, Conner will help participants build on the abilities and skills developed in Learn to Draw I.
The focus will be on creating drawings of collections of multiple objects and will introduce the concept of depicting form through the use of value and shading. The Easy Way to Watercolor 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursdays March 28, April 4, 11 and 18. Those who are new to watercolor or have some experience with watercolor but still find it difficult, may be interested in attending. Success in watercolor painting hinges on getting a handle on a few fundamental skills. This class will focus on learning and developing those skills while creating several paintings in the process.
Creating Your Own Original Watercolor Greeting Cards 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursdays May 2, 9, 16 and 23, 2013 Learn to create fun, compelling and unique greeting cards with Conner. Those who attend will learn easy methods and simple watercolor techniques that can be used over and over to make their own original cards.
