Library to celebrate Chinese New Year

SOUTH LONDONDERRY - Chinese New Year begins Jan. 31 this year, ushering in the Year of the Horse.

The South Londonderry Free Library will celebrate the new year on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 10:30 a.m. by offering a Chinese New Year workshop for children.

Art teacher Casey Junker Bailey will be on hand to teach Chinese brush painting and decorative arts for the New Year. She will also share her experiences of travel in China and stories of attending Chinese school as a child. Friend of the library, Ivy Diao, will also be on hand to share customs of the New Year. The program is free of charge and appropriate for children of all ages and adults.
