Letter to the editor: Thanks to veterans from VA
Thanks to veterans from VA
Veterans Day reminds us all of the selfless sacrifice of so many brave men and women in service to our great nation. We also reflect on the sacrifices of their families and loved ones. At the White River Junction VA and all of our community based outpatient clinics, we are honored and privileged to be able to provide care and services to veterans from across Vermont and New Hampshire. We take VA's Mission "To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan" as a sacred trust. Our specially trained staff understand some of the unique challenges that come from military service, with over a third of our workforce being veterans themselves. As part of our commitment to the veterans who have served and sacrificed for us, we continue to grow and develop our healthcare system, offering new programs and services with improved access in an environment that is welcoming and respectful of the veterans who place their trust in us.
We value our community partners and academic affiliates who work closely with us to ensure that the veterans from across our two-state region have the full range of healthcare services they need and deserve. We are grateful for the close collaboration we have with our partners in Department of Defense. The veterans in our community have much to teach us all. Their dedication and commitment to service is second to none. They teach us about courage, pride, determination, selflessness and integrity — all qualities needed to serve a cause larger than oneself.
I ask that you join me and all of the staff at the White River Junction VA in thanking our veterans for their service to their country. To all of our great veterans across this nation, we join in saying "Thank you for your service!"
