Legal vs. illegal

To the Editor:

Mr. deBona's recent letter failed to mention (Manchester Journal, Feb. 22) the most important in American history. The early immigrants certainly were critically needed and supported strongly in a country that needed them. However, millions of them - Germans, British, Italian - all went through Ellis Island to become legalized and become Americans.

Now we have a government that is sitting on its hands as millions of illegal immigrants have invaded our country. Our leaders have turned a blind eye to the devastating impact that illegal immigration is having on our country.

American is certainly being transformed. God help us.

William C. Miller Greenwich, Conn.
