Lathrop to attend camp for speed competitions

STRATTON MOUNTAIN - Seven Stratton Mountain School alpine skiing athletes have been invited to participate in regional and national training groups with the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, according to Mike Morin, SMS Alpine Program Director.

On Nov. 21 - 25, two SMS athletes will travel to Copper Mountain, Colo. to the U.S. Ski Team Speed Training Center for a camp preparing athletes for NorAm speed competitions. Senior Lara Lathrop, S. Londonderry, Vt., and junior Amanda Steffey, Lyme, N.H. will attend.

"Working with regional and national training groups is a great opportunity for our athletes to ski head to head with their peers from around the country," said Morin.

Stratton Mountain School is a ski and snowboard academy located at the base of Stratton Mountain. SMS serves students in grades 7 - 12. The SMS community of students, faculty, coaches and staff share the pursuit of academic and athletic excellence.
