Kaplan for school board
Voters of Manchester, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mark Kaplan and I am seeking your support and vote for the two-year seat on the Manchester Elementary Middle School Board. Born and raised in Long Island, N.Y., I attended public schools my entire life and then received my BA from SUNY Plattsburgh. I promise you I will bring the highest level of commitment, enthusiasm, and diligence to this position not only for the children of our community but for the broader community as well. As a school board member, I would aim to help our students achieve their educational needs and meet the state standards so important to lifelong success in a fiscally responsible manner. This can be achieved with a balanced and levelheaded approach.
Like many families here in Northshire, my wife Andrea and I moved here for career opportunities and the quality of life, but for these two newlyweds with no children we also targeted the town of Manchester for MEMS. This is where we decided we would plant our roots with the intended plan of starting our family and knowing our children would be able to receive a high quality education at the institution so many raved about during our search.
Fast forward eight years and our children are now young students at MEMS beginning their educational experiences and thus far these experiences have been very positive.
I have been involved in other areas of public service, such as serving on the board of directors of the Northshire Day School as well as being Treasurer of the Northshire Hockey Association (NHA). Now, I feel it is important for me to contribute to the future of our town's school in a constructive, open-minded, and fair manner as a member of the MEMS School Board.
I am extremely excited about the prospect of actively serving the town of Manchester in this new capacity; I thank you for reading, and thank you in advance for your consideration on March 5th.
