Junk or treasure? Find out at Bennington Museum's annual Appraisal Fair
BENNINGTON >> Find out if that quirky piece you always wanted to know about is a family heirloom worth a lot or just a quirky piece that has been in your attic for years. The Annual Appraisal Fair is planned for March 26 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Bring in the pieces you always wanted to know about, get them appraised, and have your questions answered. Come visit Bennington Museum's Annual Appraisal Fair, and perhaps discover what that treasure is really worth. Appraisals are $5 per item, with a limit of five items.
Among the appraisers is Charles Flint, of Charles L. Flint Antiques in Lenox, Mass. Flint has an impressive background in and knowledge of antiques. He has performed appraisals and authentications for many museums, as well as private collectors and insurance companies. A member of the New England Appraisers Association, he has particular strengths in 17th to 19th century oil paintings, early furniture, revolutionary and civil war items, toys, dolls, games, paper and rare books, clocks and barometers, and numerous other areas.
Specializing in sports memorabilia, antique and vintage toys, Early American country, primitive, decorated stoneware, sterling silver, advertising, signs and country store items, military, Civil War, and high-end collectibles is Scott Martin of Martin Antiques in Lenox. A second-generation art and antiques dealer, Martin has 25 years of experience in buying and selling art and antiques. "I started as a young collector of sports memorabilia and toys, which led to other specialized areas of expertise." Other appraisers may also be with us, so mark your calendars now to join us on March 26 and walk away knowing whether it is junk or a treasure.
About the Museum
Bennington Museum is located at 75 Main Street (Route 9), Bennington, in The Shires of Vermont. The museum is open Thursday through Tuesday, 10 am to 5 pm. June through October, the museum is open every day. It is wheelchair accessible. Regular admission is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and students over 18.
