Interfaith Council to sponsor Holiday Project

MANCHESTER - Christmas preparations have begun in many homes and communities and The Interfaith Council will again will be sponsoring the Holiday Project this December. Manchester families who need a helping hand for the holiday season can sign up for a food basket, along with clothing and toys for their children by picking up a form at the Community Food Bank.

Help is always needed for this large undertaking. Here are some ways an individual or a group can help:

1. Cash donations can be used to purchase food. Over 3.5 tons of food were distributed last year.

2. Sponsors are needed to adopt a family and purchase the children's clothing. Those interested may request the size of the family they can afford to shop for. Instructions will be given to sponsors on what is needed.

3. Toys are needed. The Interfaith Council is again trying to give each child a nice toy and a book, perhaps a movie pass or gift certifcate for older teens. Those interested in purchasing a toy/book for a child should contact Linda Drunsic at 362-1513 for suggestions.

4. Volunteers are needed on the day of the distribution which will be on Dec. 20 at St. Paul's Christ the Savior Church to help sort food, wrap presents if necessary and carry food out to recipients' cars.

Many people are still striving because of the hard times and the community can help make this a brighter holday season for those who struggle to make ends meet. Those interested in helping should contact Drunsic at 362-1513. Cash contributions can be mailed to the Interfaith Council P.O. Box 2644, Manchester Ctr. VT 05255.
