Insomnia? Help on the way
The program, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Insomnia, will be held on Tuesday evenings at the Maple Street School library from 6:30 to 8 p.m. beginning on July 2. Subsequent sessions will be held on July 9, July 16, July 30 and Aug. 13.
CBT for Insomnia is a 5-week group therapy program. Problems with sleep are usually the result of thoughts (cognitions) and habits (behaviors) that can be unlearned. Research has shown CBT to be more effective for treating insomnia than medications.
The cost of the program is $250. Space will be limited to 10 participants. A $50 nonrefundable deposit will secure a place in the program. To register call The Spicer Family Center at 362-1068.
Lesley Brodie, MD, is a board certified psychiatrist and Medical Director of The Spicer Family Center.
